Safety Tips for Buyers and Sellers

For buyers

Never pay in advance (Mobile Money, transfer or "delivery fees") before you have seen the item.
Meet in a busy public place during the day. Bring someone with you.
Inspect the item carefully and test electronics before paying.
Vehicles: check the carte grise and customs papers match the seller's ID and the chassis number. Have a mechanic inspect the car.
Property and land: never pay a deposit or rent without visiting. Verify the land title (titre foncier) and the owner's identity, ideally with a notary.
Be careful with prices that look far too low.

Do not send items before receiving payment in full.
Beware of buyers who "overpay" and ask for a refund of the difference.
Never share Mobile Money PINs, codes received by SMS or your BIG MUP Market management PIN.
